In her former glory days (and long before our time)

Deux Poissons (Pisces / two fish) is part of the Feadship Heritage Fleet, built in the Royal van Lent shipyard, Kaag, Holland, in 1959. She was later shown in the 1960 London Boat show.

She is 33’ 1.5” (10.1 m) long, 2’ 9”(0.84 m) draft and 10’ 2” (3.10 m) beam. Her air draught is 7’ 10.5” (2.4 m) which makes her ideal for the European canals and she can easily pass under the bridges.

I believe her hull was built in Holland and her coach roof was completed in the UK, Twickenham. The hull is steel and painted white, the deck is steel and currently painted blue and the coach roof is mahogany.

She has a rare Perkins H6.354 (horizontal) engine and a Petter AC1W generator. She comprises two fuel tanks which are mild steel, and each holds approx 420 litres (210 litres each).

At 1 500 rmp, she uses 5 litres per hour (approx 1.1 gallon) and has a speed of just under 6 knots.

She has one main cabin with a big, comfortable bed and a “wet room” = toilet, basin and shower overhead. A large saloon area with big windows all around, which is perfect for viewing the passing sites as we travel though towns and cities. The seating area is easily made up to accommodate friends and guests. Also the galley is separate and comfortable and comprises a seating area which converts to a double bed/cabin and ideal for (well behaved) friends and visitors. As well as the standard fittings in the galley (fridge, sink, gas hob, oven) there is also an ice maker fitted in one of the lockers! So needless to say, besides a “few” changes to Deux Poissons, she is perfect for slow motoring down rivers and canals, exploring all Europe has to offer……
