STORAGE

“Where are you going to store it?”

This has been the most frequently asked question right from the start of our boat life….. even before we moved on board. If you have spent more than a day or two living on a boat, the question (frustratingly) does make sense.
Fortunately Deux Poissons has a number of lockers in the main saloon area. We rebuilt the galley and used every available inch for storage and the forepeak already had two deep lockers under the beds and a cupboard on the port side.

Clothing
The cupboard in the forepeak needed some work before it could be used properly. It didn’t have a proper back to it, so it was just attached to the steel hull. It also only had a hanging rail. Patrick painted the inside, attached insulation to the hull and then fitted a painted wooden back to it. He fitted a centre partition and then shelves. A quick trip (with some accurate measurements) to a local store for plastic baskets and we now have a great cupboard for some of our clothes.
Under the seating in the main saloon area we were able to fit two storage boxes which zip up and these hold the overflow and chunkier clothing.
At the end of our bed are two small lockers which hold underwear and socks.
All in all it take some planning and also a conscious effort to keep it neat, but it all works really well.
